In a fierce battle in Oslo, Alexander Bublik rose to defeat Casper Ruud in front of his native fans, propelling his nation past Norway. It was a very good match from Bublik who played extremely aggressively without wasting time in rallies. Bublik attacked at every opportunity and it worked. In the first set, Ruud held most of the time but was sometimes too passive.
Bublik had a chance to break and he did so by taking the first set with 6-4. In the 2nd set, a close battle ensued with both players playing quite well. Bublik ran into some trouble at 5-4 for Ruud in the second set but was able to save several set points and stay in the game.
