Germany finds producer in Norway to supply Kyiv with Gepard ammunition – reports

BERLIN (UrduPoint News/Sputnik – July 10, 2022) The German government has found a manufacturer in Norway capable of supplying additional ammunition for the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns which are due to be sent to Ukraine, German newspaper Spiegel reported on Saturday, citing sources.
According to reports, the supply of ammunition for Gepard systems was initially considered problematic, as shipments from South America were frowned upon by the producing country, Switzerland. Now the cabinet has found a manufacturer in Norway, which should provide ammunition deliveries to Ukraine.
If the ammunition supply is agreed in time, the first Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns will be delivered to Ukraine as early as this month, Spiegel added.
Russia has repeatedly denounced a continued flow of weapons to the conflict zone in Ukraine from the West, saying it was adding fuel to the fire and derailing the prospects of the negotiation process. At the end of April, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to NATO countries regarding arms deliveries to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has claimed that any shipment containing weapons destined for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russian armed forces.
