Loganair has announced plans to restore flights between Aberdeen and Oslo this summer.

The Scottish carrier last operated the route in 2019 and has confirmed it will offer a five-times-a-week service (daily except Wednesdays and Saturdays) from June 13, increasing to six flights a week ( every day except Saturday) from 7 September.

The hours will be as follows:

Days of the week

  • Depart Aberdeen at 8:30 a.m., arrive in Oslo at 11:05 a.m.
  • Depart Oslo at 11.40am, arrive in Aberdeen at 12.20pm

Sundays

  • Depart Aberdeen at 1:30 p.m., arrive in Oslo at 3:55 p.m.
  • Depart Oslo at 4:40 p.m., arrive in Aberdeen at 5:10 p.m.

The routes will be operated by Loganair’s 49-seat Embraer 145 aircraft, with fares starting at £109.99 each way, including the carrier’s recently introduced ‘Green Skies’ carbon offset fee.

Loganair said resuming its Aberdeen-Oslo service would allow it to offer “no less than 14 destinations [either nonstop or same plane one-stop] from its Aberdeen hub, as it expects to add more as demand for air travel continues to recover from the pandemic.”

Russell Borthwick, chief executive of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, said that “Aberdeen more than any other part of the UK depends on air links to enable our internationally-minded economy and both protect existing connections and add new connections to major hubs and cities. will be at the heart of our recovery”.

Meanwhile, Loganair Managing Director Jonathan Hinkles commented:

“We are delighted to add flights to Oslo from Loganair’s Aberdeen hub, restoring connectivity to the Norwegian capital for business and leisure travellers. This is an important and long-standing route to Aberdeen, and one on which we are happy to operate following the reductions that other airlines have understandably made during the pandemic.

“Together with the new route from Oslo, Loganair’s expansion to Aberdeen will enable us to offer our largest ever program in the summer of 2022. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to welcome many new employees to our airline in recent weeks as we create new jobs to support this growth.

“It has been a difficult two years for the entire industry and it is clear that they are extremely excited to return to the skies with Loganair.

Loganair recently extended its codeshare agreement with British Airways, adding 18 new routes, including Aberdeen to Belfast City, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Southampton, and Norwich to Aberdeen.
