Rowboat Energythe new full-cycle E&P company in the North Sea, has announced that a platform contract was signed for the drilling of the Velocette exploration well (Company 20%).

Velocette (PL 1016) will be drilled using the semi-submersible transocean norge and should be drilled in Q3 2023.

Velocette is a gas-condensate prospect targeting the Cretaceous Nise turbid sands on the eastern flank of the Utgard anticyclone in the Norwegian Sea which was identified following a recent seismic reprocessing. Velocette benefits from seismic amplitude anomalies indicating gas-filled sands located in the fitting

The Velocette partners are: Longboat (20%), OMV (40% Operator), INPEX (40%).

Helge Hammer, Managing Director of Longboat Energy, said:

‘I’m glad we’ve now secured a platform for the Velocette prospect which will be the ninth well in our program. We are currently drilling the Oswig well and the two the Velocette and Oswig prospects have significant follow-up potential that will be de-risked by exploration wells if successful.
