RON BAXLEY JR. T&D correspondent

The Facebook Live meeting video for the Norway City Council meeting had sound throughout the 38-minute session.

The video posted on the city’s Facebook page also has no sound.

A number to call for the teleconference was listed in an agenda posted on Facebook, but no sound could be heard in the Facebook video itself. Almost every month this year that Norway has hosted live meetings on Facebook, the sound has been made available to the general public without having to call.

Mayor Tracie Clemons could be seen making various reports but could not be heard on the video.

Toni Hydrick, a Norwegian citizen involved in some citizens’ committees in the past, wrote in the comments section: “Sound must be on”.

Someone named Gifted Thomas on Facebook asked in the comments, “Can anyone hear?”

Colleen Barton Williams also commented, “Can Mayor Clemons fix the sound?” Others also asked if the sound could be turned on.

Former Mayor Sarah Johnson, in the comments section, said something was wrong with the sound.

She typed a question to clerk Dee Gore, “Clerk, can you hear?”

Gore responded in the comments, “Yeah, over the phone.”

Elloree, Norwegian officials chose; voters reject electoral change

At one point, Gore said in the comments, “No sound via FB.”

Citizens as well as officials had to call in to hear the audio via teleconference, and, again, it was not available in Facebook Live Video as in the past.

On the agenda for the City of Norway‘s Facebook page was the announcement of the results of the recent referendum to decide whether Norway would go with the whole or stay with the members of the district council. As previously reported in The T&D, Norwegian voters opted to stay with district council members.

It could not be determined whether the old business discussion about the referendum and the council’s debate about it were mentioned.

Jackie Tyler, according to the agenda, was sworn in as a District 4 council member at the meeting.
