Mitchell Institute appoints Jared J. Cash President and CEO

PORTLAND – The Mitchell Institute, a Maine nonprofit founded by Senator George J. Mitchell to improve Maine student outcomes, has appointed Jared J. Cash as the new president and chief of the leadership of the organization from January 1. 2022.
Cash replaces Meg Baxter who announced plans to retire earlier this year. Baxter led the Mitchell Institute for 10 years, the culmination of a distinguished career in nonprofit service.
Cash, who sits on the SAD 17 School Board as Vice President, brings nearly 20 years of experience in various positions supporting education and student advancement. He is currently vice president of enrollment and marketing at the University of Southern Maine.

Prior to his position at USM, Cash was vice president of the University of Maine at Farmington. He also previously served as Director of Scholarships at the Mitchell Institute and the Admissions Department at Bates College. He received his undergraduate degree from Bates College and a Masters of Education from Northeastern University. He resides in his hometown of Norway, with his wife Mallory Brooke and children, Carlee-Mae and Alyson.

Cash’s appointment follows an extensive national research process that began earlier this year and was led by Greenwich Harbor Partners.
