Pat Smith set to compete in Oslo at Senior World Championships

OSLO – Former member of the Gopher and Greco-Roman World Team Pat Smith set to enter his third race with a world medal at 72 kilograms, as the 2021 Senior World Championships kicked off in Norway on Saturday morning .

Smith secured his spot on the United States World Team last month by winning the Senior World Team Trials in Lincoln, New Brunswick, sweeping the New York Athletic Club’s Benjamin Peak in the best-of-three final. This will be the third world championships for Smith, who previously competed at the 2017 and 2019 world championships. He will be aiming for his first podium appearance this time around in Oslo.

While the world championships have already started on Saturday morning, the Greco-Roman 72 kilogram weight class is not expected to start competition until Thursday, October 7. The Greco-Roman draws have yet to be announced by United World Wrestling.

3h30 – Qualifying rounds
