Samuel Goldwyn Films wins “Margrete-Reine du Nord” for the United States (EXCLUSIVE)

Samuel goldwyn Films has acquired the US rights to the Danish epic drama “Margrete-Queen of the North”, directed by Charlotte Sieling (“The Bridge”, “The Killing”, “Homeland”). The high-end feature film, produced by Birgitte Skov and Lars Bredo Rahbek for the Scandinavian major SF Studios, is screened this week at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund (21-27 August).
The agreement was negotiated by Reinvent International Sales, Exclusive Sales Agent for SF Studios’ Feature Film List.

A previous sales agreement was concluded with Splendid Film for Germany.
Headlining Trine Dyrholm (“Queen of Hearts”, “The Town”), “Margrete-Reine du Nord” is a biopic about the great Danish monarch Margrete Premier who brought together the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and of Sweden in a peaceful union. Written by Sieling, starring Jesper Fink (“Before the Frost”) and Maya Ilsøe (“The Legacy”), the story takes place in 1402, when a plot threatens the alliance.
“Margrete – Queen of the North” is a modern portrait of a woman whose challenges were, despite a gap of 600 years, not so different from those with which women are grappled today: career, family, motherhood “Sieling noted in an earlier statement.
The strong Nordic cast includes Søren Malling (“Borgen”), Morten Hee Andersen (“Deliver Us”), Jakob Oftebro (“Agent Hamilton”), Bjørn Floberg (“Out Stealing Horses”) and Magnus Krepper (“Queen of Hearts” ) â). SF Studios will release the film in Denmark on September 16.
Global buyers and registered programmers attending this week’s New Nordic Films conference (August 24-27), parallel to the Haugesund Norwegian Film Festival, can view the photo online and on location as a market screening. .
REinvent International Sales covers two other SF Studios titles that will be presented as work in progress: Erik Poppe’s period drama âThe Emigrantsâ and Aku Louhimies action thriller âOmerta 6/12â.
