The emperor’s guitarist’s ex-wife was among five killed in Norwegian bow and arrow attack
Andrea Meyer, the German artist, writer, actress and model who has released several albums under the Nebelhexë nickname, is one of the five people who were killed in a bow and arrow attack in a quiet Norwegian town earlier this week. She was 52 years old.
Espen Andersen Braathen, a 37-year-old Danish citizen, was arrested on Wednesday evening (October 13) after starting his murderous rampage targeting random people at a supermarket and other places in Kongsberg, where he lived.
Brathen, a Muslim convert, was held in a medical facility pending a psychiatric assessment.
Police inspector By Thomas Omholt describe Brathen as “not very social” and told the media that “all indications are that he chose his victims at random” and acted alone.
Even if Brathen reportedly posted a video on social media in 2017 in which he issued a ‘warning’ and declared his Muslim faith, Omholt told reporters that “the idea is that he did not take [the conversion] very seriously. By that we mean that he did not follow or practice the traditions that are common in this culture and religion, ”the inspector said.
Last year, a court reportedly granted a restraining order for Braathen to stay away from his parents for six months after threatening to kill one of them. He was also reportedly convicted of burglary and drug possession.
Meyer, who also lived in Kongsberg, was previously married to EMPEROR guitarist Tomas “Samoth” Haugen, with whom she shared a daughter, Alva.
Under the Nebelhexë banner, Andrea released three albums: “Laguz – In the lake”, “Essential” and “Dead water”. She has also written thought-provoking articles on the darker aspects of human nature, animal instincts and other esoteric / taboo topics that have become very popular in the alternative and metal music scenes. Additionally, she wrote a book on understanding Norse myths, traditions, and goddess worship. She had a column in a Norwegian Gothic magazine titled “Seriously – Things that irritate Nebelhexë”.
Originally looking at a modeling career in London, Andrea soon leave this “shallow stage” in search of challenge, pure life and the human spirit. Always shocked by human ignorance and apathy, and still spiritual, mystical and with a deep connection to animals, she found her soul mates in various magical and esoteric circles and soon after enchanted and impressed the elite of the “left hand path”. Exploring her fascination with the “dark and animal” one step further, she got involved with Anton La Vey‘s, has become a fetish model and known act with notorious artistic performances (such as CRADLE OF GROWTH shows).
Andrea began to express itself through music, and under the name of Nebelhexë, she first had an impact with the dark and ghostly ambient music project LANDED, which was released in 1994. Then she took a big detour and explored elements of pagan folk music with THE RUNEDANCE OF HAGALAZ before she “comes to herself”.
Andrea also made appearances on CRADLE OF GROWTH‘s “The principle of evil made flesh” and SATYRICON‘s “Nemesis Divina” albums.
Old MORBID ANGEL leader David Vincent was among the fellow musicians who paid tribute to Meyer following his death. He wrote on social media: “Sad to hear that my friend was among those insanely murdered in the terrorist attack in Norway. She was a beautiful, creative artist and she will be sorely missed. Goodbye to her. ‘moment Andrea“.
CRADLE OF GROWTH wrote: “RIP Andrea Meyer.
“Andrea guest on our first album “The principle of evil made flesh” and also modeled and danced for us on stage as well as presiding over the ritual of our formative years.
“She will be dearly missed and our deep love and sympathies go out to her friends and family.”

Sad to hear that my friend was one of those senselessly murdered in a terrorist attack in Norway. She was a beautiful, creative artist and will be sadly missed. Goodbye for the moment Andrea
Andréa Meyer. You’ve created pagan-inspired music 15 years before everyone thought it was cool. Rest in peace, old friend?
We are sad to learn that Andrea Meyer Haugen is one of the 5 random victims who were killed in the …
