Viggo adds three Toyota Mirai to its taxi fleet in Oslo

The first hydrogen fuel cell taxis from Danish taxi company Viggo are in service in the Norwegian capital Oslo. All three vehicles are Toyota Mirai.
By next summer, the company wants to put into service a total of 100 battery and hydrogen taxis, without giving a precise breakdown. Viggo has an agreement with Hynion for the refueling of fuel cell vehicles.
The Toyota Mirai has a range of 650 kilometers and a tank that can be filled in 3 to 5 minutes. Hydrogen is very suitable for taxis that want to travel long distances and be as moving as possible. With hydrogen, you can fill the tank in minutes and travel several hundred kilometers before the next fill. This means that you drive in an environmentally friendly manner and that you don’t have to spend a lot of time recharging, âexplains Joar Tennfjord, CEO of Viggo. By 2024, all taxis in Oslo will be emission-free. To achieve this goal, fuel cell cars will also play a role.
âViggo invests heavily in climate-friendly taxis and our cars run exclusively on electricity or hydrogen. If the entire taxi industry is to become climate neutral, we depend on sufficient charging stations as well as hydrogen filling stations, âcontinues Joar Tennfjord. Viggo has an agreement with Hynion for the refueling of fuel cell vehicles. In the Oslo area, there are currently only hydrogen filling stations in Lillestrøm and Høvik, the latter being used by Viggo’s three new Toyota Mirai. The deal also includes new refueling stations that Hynion plans to build elsewhere in Norway, but did not give further details.
Viggo was launched in Copenhagen in 2019 and has zero-emission cars in its fleet exclusively. Besides the Danish capital, the taxi company has also parked vehicles in Aarhus. Now he is entering the Norwegian market with Oslo. In October of last year, we told you that the Danish startup had ordered 300 Fisker Ocean electric cars.
