As the echo of voices that echoed through the morning air with power and conviction began to subside, Darlene’s son, Michael Sims, approached the microphone to sing her an original song called “You are Beautiful.” .
At the end of the song, the DJ played some upbeat music as each survivor’s name was called out, and she walked the ‘pink carpet’ spending her moment in the celebratory spotlight as her “Walk the Block” team encouraged her.
“We were so excited when we heard about the march being held in our hometown,” said Stephanie Hart from Norway.
“I am here to support my mother, Shirley Hart, and my aunt, Flossie Peeples. They are both survivors. I know most of these ladies, and they fought and survived, ”said the proud member of the I ‘Hart’ Champions team.
