Which countries are the best in Wordle? Sweden in the United Arab Emirates, ranked
It hardly seems necessary to introduce the viral word game Wordle, after it amassed millions of players in a few months and was then bought by The New York Times.
The game, developed by software engineer Josh Wardle, has since been the subject of several spin-offs and has even been translated into various languages, including Arabic.
Debates have raged on social media over whether it’s gotten any tougher in recent weeks, and every day you’ll find people proudly sharing their scores – or angrily lamenting the word of the day.

Now, a new study from the Word Tips website has revealed which countries have the highest Wordle scores.
The most efficient nation at guessing the daily riddle is Sweden, with the average player guessing the correct word in 3.72 tries.
Next come Switzerland, with an average of 3.78 guesses, and Poland in third place with 3.79.
The Belgians and Australians take 3.8 each, while in Finland it’s 3.81 and Denmark, Brazil and South Africa are tied at 3.83.
In 10th place is Israel, where it takes 3.84 attempts to find the right word.
The UAE comes in 11th place along with Ireland, where people take an average of 3.87 guesses.
The survey also considered top cities and Canberra, Australia took the top spot with an average of 3.58 responses per puzzle.
Jerusalem, Israel comes in second, with Malmö, Sweden in third and Durban, South Africa and Paris rounding out the top five.
Three other Australian cities – Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide – occupy the sixth, seventh and eighth places respectively, followed by Manila and finally Geneva in 10th.
